Re: Gout
Luke - I didn't prescribe them myself? My GP did. Took 100 for 6 weeks then a blood test to see the levels. Anyway that pattern carried on to 200, 300 and 400 which is when he said we'll stick. Never had an attack since. Only annoying thing is it's 2 tablets!

I also have the Arcoxia (Green triangle) things too.

BMI is 26

Re: Gout
Hang onto them Joe, most GPs won't prescribe them now unless there's no alternative. You've got the light green triangular ones, yeah?

Re: Gout
I have about 90 , 90mg Arcoxia tablets if anyone wants a few.

Get them for my back.

OneMac

GMC guideline (unless there are some serious 'other reasons' why you would need so much of it) is 100mg daily max. If a high daily dosage is picked up on review, the prescribing doc could find him or herself challenged on it.

100mg and dietary controls - you are looking to avoid the PURINES, and it's not necessarily the old favourites that are the problem. Lots of folk are triggered badly by stuff like gravy, mushrooms, prawns / shellfish, even bread etc.

The talk is BMI of 25 or less, very hard to do if you're a fat boy by design. Generally, you'll get lucky up to 31 BMI, but much over that and gout risk rises rapidly.

Drink plenty of water, 1.5 - 2 lires daily. And get your kidneys checked (blood tests) and blood pressure checked. High BP can fuck your kidneys, and the gout etc can all be follow ons from that.

Happy New Year, then... ;-)

300mg - fuck me that's a lot per day... you usually find the very old on that sort of dosage...

The ONLY thing that STOPS an attack (not 'prevents', stops) is Etoricoxib (aka Arcoxia). Little light green triangular babies, anything from 30g - 90g three consecurive days. Wallop, gone.

Unfortunately, you'll have a mother of a job getting it scripted, as it's on what we call the 'red list'. Does that mean it's dangerous? No, you don't take it for long enough to be dangerous. What it is is fucking expensive... hence... ah well, you know the rest...

If it's hereditary, I'm going to suffer from it. No signs yet.

Gavros. Very good.

They drink a teaspoon of Apple cider vinegar in a cup of hot water every morning and night for a week.

Then just one each and every morning.

Does the trick. Thank me later.

Re: Gout
Agreed, I used to suffer badly from it, now one allopurinol tablet a day & all is good.
